Are you also fed up with people discribing powermetalcrap as "real" heavy metal. Have you ever thought to yourself that bands like Majesty, Kamelot, Nevermore or 3 Inches Of Blood sound nothing like the hardrock music of the 70s/80s. Well congratulations because you are TOTALLY RIGHT!! All that powermetal stuff doesn't sound remotely like genuine heavy metal. Bands like Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Jag Panzer, Avantasia and Lost Horizon have absolutly nothing in common with the heavy rock of the eighties. Oldfashioned heavy metal? You must be kidding. Powermetal is pure 21st century music and just as modern sounding as NU-metal, emocore, trance and all those trendy wussbands like White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand, and Jet. Powermetal is the complete antithesis of the hardrock of the past. It's overblown, shallow, brainless, cheesy, faceless music totally devoid of any emotion, passion, humour, originality and authenticity. With other words, it's complete kitsch! That's not how heavy metal was intended! Hardrock has always been a style that in its very essence has been about keeping things simple and being straight to the point where bombastic arrangements, artificial virtuosity, unnecessery tempochanges and wimpy fairytale lyrics have no place. Powermetal doesn't sound agressive, loud or raunchy at all. PM bands may have thick compresed guitars and typical annoying double-bass thumping but they miss that vital rock n roll power that real HM-bands like Raven, Deep Purple, Y&T, Saxon or Sammy Hagar had even though those bands had a guitarsound that sounded like it was made of cardboard and they didnt dress up like knights or vikings and all that corny stuff.

Its not only a musical problem but also a social one. Powermetal is after all the ultimate nerdmusic. Which unfortunatly attracts all these losers that enjoy playing World of Warcraft, go to fantasy-fairs or dress up like vikings. Its not hard to imagine all the stereotypical stuff like longsleeves, thor's hammer necklaces, alchemy jewelry or black and white armytrousers that go along with all that stuff. Exactly the kind of people who would have never listened to hardrock music in the past. This has had the unfortunate result that heavy metal has gained an unwanted nerd-image much to the amusement of indie/hipsters who like to give the impression that hardrockers are insecure dorks who they can make fun off. Offcourse this could not be further from the truth because hardrockers used to be cool and fast guys like Joe Lyn Turner and Bifff Byford who got all the chicks. Powermetal is offcourse very a-sexual music that just totally lacks the machojock feel that heavy rock used to have. But dont forget that powermetal has been invented by punks to give heavy metal a nerdy image. Dont be fooled by it! But to be very honoust I'm getting a bit fed up with this music and all those overblown bands like Iced Earth, Trivium or Gamma Ray. I will go a step further and tell you that i've come to the ultimate conclusion that powermetal must be TOTALLY DESTROYED!! Every axe, every sword, every knights costume, every ringbeard, all those squealing idiots and all those r.p.g. playing retardfans must in the name of everybody who likes heavy metal for the right reasons be completly annihilated! So to everyone who still thinks powermetal is real heavy metal I will strongly urge you to listen to bands like Accept, Diamond Head, AC/DC, Foreigner, Rush, 220 Volt, Motörhead, Ratt, Tokyo Blade, Dust, Molly Hatchet etc. You will surely come to the conclusion that bands like Dream Theater, Iron Saviour, Virgin Steel or Tad Morose have absolutly nothing to do with genuine heavy rock. Butt hey, people who like powermetal probably dont know all those authentic bands.

Ben jij ook iemand die doodziek wordt als die powermetal crapbands omschreven worden als "echte" heavy metal. Heb je ook wel eens gedacht dat bands als Majesty, Kamelot, Nevermore of 3 Inches Of blood in de verste verte niet op hardrockbands uit de jaren 70/80 lijken. Nou gefeliciteerd dan heb je namelijk HELEMAAL GELIJK!!! Want al die powermetal groepen hebben niets maar dan ook niets met echte heavy metal te maken. Bands als Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Jag Panzer, Avantasia of Lost Horizon lijken totaal niet op de echte heavy rock zoals die in de jaren 80 gemaakt werd. Ouderwetse heavy metal? Laat me niet lachen. Powermetal is pure 21ste eeuwse muziek en is net zo modern als NU-metal, emocore, trance en van die trendy mietjes bands als White Stripes, Franz Ferdinand en Jet Sterker nog powermetal is de totale antithese van hardrockmuziek van vroeger. Het is opgeblazen, oppervlakkige, leeghoofdige, gezichtsloze en totaal van elke emotie, passie, humor, originaliteit en authenticiteit gespeende muziek. Kortom, het is complete kitsch! Zo is heavy metal nooit bedoeld!! Hardrock is van oudsher ruige simpele recht voor z'n raap muziek waar geen plaats is voor bombastische tierelantijn, gekunstelde virtuositeit, onnodige tempowisselingen en flauwe sprookjes teksten. Powermetal is ook totaal geen ruige muziek. Ze mogen dan wel allemaal van die zware samengeperste gitaarmuren hebben en van die irritante dubbelbass gedreun maar ze missen gewoon de ruige rock n roll gevoel dat echt HM-bands als Raven, Deep Purple, Y&T, Saxon of Sammy Hagar hadden ook al hebben dat soort bands een geluid dat klinkt alsof het van karton gemaakt is en lopen ze niet bij als ridders of vikingen en al dat soort oubollige dingen.

Het is niet alleen een muzikale probleem maar ook een sociale. Powermetal is nl. de ultieme nerdmuziek. Wat natuurlijk allemaal van die sukkels aantrekt die World Of Warcraft spelen, naar fantasyfairs gaan en als vikingen verkleed gaan. De longsleevjes, hamertjes van thor alchemy sieraden en zwart-witte legerbroeken kan je er zelf wel bij bedenken. Precies de soort types die vroeger nooit naar hardrock zouden luisteren. Dit heeft de nare gevolg dat de heavy metal een ongewenste nerd-image heeft gekregen dit tot de vreugde van veel alto/hipsters die graag de indruk willen geven dat hardrockers sukkelige onnozele kneuzen zijn. Volkomen onzin natuurlijk want hardrockers waren vroeger van die coole en vlugge gasten net zoals Joe Lyn Turner of Biff Byford die allemaal lekkere chicks kregen. Powermetal is natuurlijk ook totaal a-sexuele muziek wat haaks staat op de machojock gevoel die heavy rock vroeger had. Maar powermetal is ook uitgevonden door punkers om heavy metal een nerdy imago te geven. Ik begin om eerlijk te zijn een beetje genoeg van deze muziek te krijgen en al die vervelende grandioos klinkende bands als Iced Earth, Trivium of Gamma Ray. Sterker nog ik ben tot de ultieme conclusie gekomen dat powermetal TOTAAL VERNIETIGD MOET WORDEN!! Elk hakbijltje, elk zwaardje, elk ridderkostuum, elk ringbaardje, al die gillende idioten en al die stomme r.p.g. spelende klotefans moeten in naam van iedereen die oprecht van hardrock houdt volledig geannihaleert worden! Opruimen die powermetal-hap. Dus ik raad iedereen aan die denkt dat powermetal echte heavy metal is toch echt eens te luisteren naar groepen als Accept, Diamond Head, AC/DC, Foreigner, Rush, 220 Volt, Motörhead, Ratt, Tokyo Blade, Dust, Molly Hatchet enz. te luisteren. Dan zal je ook wel tot de conclusie komen dat bands als Dream Theater, Iron Saviour, Virgin Steel, Heidevolk of Tad Morose niks met echte heavy rock te maken hebben. Maar ja, mensen die van powermetal houden kennen dat soort authentieke bands helemaal niet.
